Technology and equipment have been developed for obtaining continuously casting round billets with wall thickness of 30 mm and more and made of steel, cast iron and non-ferrous alloys in the foundry shops and sections.

Key words:

Castings, Continuous Casting Method, recycling non-industrial wastes

Offer description:

The essence of the proposed technology is to use a method of vertical continuous casting in metallic water-cooled mould with one-time, sand cores on compact plants of simple design.

Technical and economic advantages of products:

Technology advantages in application:
• non-application of moulding sand for formation of external billet surface;
• reduction of labour consumption for mould formation in comparison with centrifugal casting and flask green sand moulding by 5–10‑fold, respectively, and cleaning of internal surface;
• improvement of ecological conditions at a working place for billet obtaining.
Advantages of final products:
• casting density in billets and their strength properties are increased by 7–15%;
• machining allowances are averagely reduced by 15%;
• outcome of good products according to metal is increased up to 95%.
Cost value of billets is by 3‑fold lower in comparison with the analogous rolled products.

Practical experience of similar offers implementation:

The development has been applied at enterprises of the Republic of Belarus for recycling non-industrial wastes in billets which are considered as substitutes for rolled products.
